Dodge / GMC mini artic race car transporter / motor home.
The Dodge unit has now been scrapped and is no more. The 1959 GMC fire truck, on the left, with ridiculously low mileage of 2212 has now been transformed into the new artic unit, on the right. We have stripped off all the unnecessary bits and pieces and constructed a tubular rear bed to accept the fifth wheel unit and lockers for storage. The truck has now also been painted in it’s new livery of Ford (had to be) French Blue over silver, and it looks stunning. The trailer will also undergo a complete change from its present state. When purchased, it was a motor home with a small workshop area at the rear, but this has been stripped out to provide temporary storage for Escort bits. It will soon have the entire bodywork removed and a new frame will be constructed to utilise the space more for our purposes. It will be able to carry two racing Escorts and give us space to sleep 5 or 6. The front will be refitted to accommodate cooking, living and sleeping areas with fold out sides to give more room, while the rear end will be custom made to take Wayne’s fibreglass race car and Darren’s new race car, (watch this space), a ‘War Wagon’ (don’t ask) and work area, so we are self contained when traveling to race tracks.
