Even the wildest Mk 1 or Mk 2 Escort conversion has to start with a good strong body shell. All these cars are over 30 years old and they ALL have rust in them, some worse than others.
This shell has been chemically dipped to remove all traces of old paint, filler, underseal and rust. Once the repairs have been carried out, it will be dipped again.
Most Escorts will require new front wings, full length inner wing tops, suspension turret kit, front panel, slam panel and bulkhead splash panels. This car also needed new A post panels, front chassis rails, centre chassis rails, full floor pans and full sills.
Full inner front wings would have been an option, but with a seven month wait and around £450 each we opted for repair. Front chassis rails also had a seven month wait so we fabricated our own.

New sills, floor pans and larger gearbox tunnel fitted. The frame used to brace the shell whilst the floor pans were replaced can now be removed.
